Timber venetian blinds
North · heritage openingsUnder a canopy the useful control is angle, not coverage: the light is dappled, moving, and a different animal in July than in January.[6] A venetian throws high summer sun onto the ceiling and opens flat in June to let the low north sun do its job. Timber also sits against an old painted reveal in a way aluminium never quite does.
Heavier and dearer than aluminium, and a very wide opening has to be split across more than one headrail. Above a bath or sink choose aluminium instead — timber and steam age badly together.
